Chapter 05

Chapter 05

Bella awoke to a disorienting haze, uncertain of her surroundings, the passage of time, or even how she managed to survive the onslaught by Jane’s fledgling Cold Ones. The memories of their savage attack lingered vividly, reminiscent of the pain she had felt when James had bitten her, but intensified. Her recollection painted a gruesome picture: her body aflame, skin tearing under the relentless assault of teeth, the venom coursing through her veins until the pain became unbearable, leading her to black out.

She should have been dead.

Yet, against all odds, she found herself alive.

Running her hands over her arms, she marveled at the unexpected sight of human skin. It was a stark contrast to the Cold Ones’ otherworldly pallor. Even the scar, a lingering reminder of James’s attack, had vanished.

Sitting up, Bella pushed her hair away from her face, surveying her surroundings. The room, enclosed by padded walls and featuring a similarly padded door, added to the enigma of her current situation.

As Bella examined the peculiar room, the door creaked open, revealing a figure standing in the doorway. It was Carlisle Cullen, the patriarch of the vampire family she encountered in Forks. The family she had left behind in Forks because she refused to be manipulated further. To be turned into a vampire.

“The fuck,” she said surprised.

“Bella, you’re awake,” Carlisle greeted her with a warm smile. “You’ve been through quite an ordeal, but you’re safe now.”

“Doubtful…”

Carlisle raised his hands as he took a step into the room. “I mean you no harm, I was called to help because I’m a doctor and have experience with the supernatural.”

“By who?”

“Dr. Deaton,” Carlisle replied calmly. “Do you remember what happened?”

“Yes. I cut myself in the hopes that they’d attack me, like the legend of the Third Wife.”

“Bella…”

“Don’t you Bella me, I wasn’t going to turn,” she countered angrily.

“You’re safe here.”

“Again, doubtful.”

Carlisle’s sigh carried the weight of regret as he unraveled the unsettling events that had transpired in her absence. “After your departure, Edward took drastic measures. He journeyed to Volterra and offered himself to Aro, proposing to join his army in exchange for your life—a form of penance, if you will,” he explained with a composed demeanor. “We acknowledge the grave mistakes we made, Bella, and we’re profoundly sorry for the consequences our presence had on you. When Alice realized Aro’s unwillingness to honor his supposed agreement with Edward, both she and Jasper independently joined the Volturi ranks, attempting to either stall Aro or divert his attention.”

The explanation, though seemingly logical, sparked skepticism in Bella. It appeared too convenient, and she found it hard to believe that Carlisle would permit such extreme actions from his family.

“Undoubtedly, their intentions were sincere but misguided. Aro is not one to be reasoned with once he’s set his mind on a course of action,” Carlisle concluded, hoping to convey the complex reality of their recent choices. “It was one of the reasons, after all, that I left the Volturi.”

“Why am I here? Where is here?”

“You’re still in Beacon Hills, the veterinary clinic is above us. This room was constructed in a hurry to keep you safe.”

“Keep me safe?”

“And your friends.”

“They’re not—”

“They are, Bella,” Carlisle assured her. “They told me what happened and what you were like and I don’t think that there aren’t enough words in the English language to apologize for the effect that my family had on you. My kind. I assured them that the Bella that we came to know was much… kinder.”

“The Bella you knew hadn’t endured what I have,” Bella countered, her voice tinged with bitterness.

“Of course not,” he responded kindly. “But perhaps you can give them the chance to get to know her. Aro will never come after you again.”

“Because I died?”

“No,” Carlisle shook his head gently. “Well, technically, yes. Your friends found you near your car, covered in Cold One bites and on the brink of death. The Alpha’s bite was an attempt to counteract the effects of our venom.”

“I told them it was absurd, that it wouldn’t work.”

“And you were right,” Carlisle replied with a hint of amusement in his voice. “That’s why I’m here.” Carlisle continued, his demeanor shifting to a more serious tone. “Bella, you’re in this room because you kept hurting yourself and others during your transition. This room is lined with mountain ash so it keeps you inside, and the walls are concrete walls, as strong as they could make them in a short time. The combination of the Cold One venom and the Alpha’s bite had an unexpected effect. It seems to have triggered a transformation in you, making you something different.”

Bella’s eyes widened with confusion. “Different how?”

“Your body has taken on aspects of both vampire and werewolf traits, creating a unique hybrid. You’re not exactly one or the other, but a blend of both supernatural entities,” Carlisle explained.

Bella touched her face, feeling the smoothness of her skin. “I look human.”

“Yes, your appearance remains unchanged, but your abilities have been enhanced. From what we’ve experienced while you were transitioning, you have the strength and speed of a vampire, showing the same rage as a Newborn, yet the enhanced senses and resilience of a werewolf. It’s an extraordinary occurrence, and we’re still trying to understand the full extent of your capabilities,” Carlisle added.

“Did I hurt anyone?”

“No, aside from someone’s hurt feelings because you kept talking about death.”

Isaac. Oh God, she was going to have to face him, wasn’t she? “What about my blood?”

“You’re mostly human. Your blood is yours; all werewolves that could donate their blood donated their blood to help clear the venom from your body without fear of rejection. Again, from what it looks like, you only got the additional speed and strength,” Carlisle replied.

“What about my eyes?”

“Normal.”

Bella then realized what Carlisle had said about this room, she hadn’t been out for a short time, and he was telling her about her transitioning, which she didn’t remember at all. “How long was I out for?”

“Almost three months.” Carlisle noticed the concern in Bella’s eyes. “Your friends have been informed of your recovery. They are eager to see you.”

“I need some time,” Bella whispered, overwhelmed by the idea of facing everyone after such a significant transformation.

“That’s completely understandable. Take all the time you need,” Carlisle reassured her. “You have a choice now, Bella. A choice in how you want to live your life. We won’t interfere, but we’re here if you need guidance or support.”

Bella nodded, absorbing the weight of her newfound freedom. As she contemplated her choices, she couldn’t ignore the internal struggle between her past and the uncertain future ahead.

“The animal clinic is closed, nobody is upstairs if you wish to take a shower and such; I believe one of your friends left a bag of your clothes upstairs. Take your time, Bella. What you’ve gone through in the recent and… regrettably not so recent past, it’s not something that will heal overnight. Should you need me, I believe you still have my number, but I shall take my leave and head back to Forks.”

“Thank you, Carlisle. You didn’t have to—”

“Bella, we all still care about you. That never stopped. But there is a reason why we shouldn’t mingle with humans, and how you feel about us and what happened to you is our fault. Moving forward, all we can do is try to atone for our sins towards you. We mean you no harm.” He gave her a nod and backed out of the room, leaving the door open and creating an opening in the mountain ash-lined room.

As more words started to click in her head, she realized that she was no longer human. “Wait!” she said as she ran after Carlisle, almost running him over as she skidded to a halt. “Oh crap.”

Carlisle smiled at her. “Are you alright?”

“I… what am I?”

“You’re a werewolf.”

“But?”

“As I said, some of your abilities are enhanced due to the amount of Cold One venom that was in your system during your transition.”

“What does that mean?”

“That means that you’re stronger and faster than you’ve ever thought you’d be, Bella. Just be careful, alright? You’re something new, and a lot of people either fear something new or want to covet it for themselves,” he replied calmly, then a fond smile appeared on his flawless marble face. “But I’m sure that your new friends are merely happy that you survived and they will absorb you into their pack.”

“I’m like Scott and Isaac, right? Not like Jacob?”

Carlisle laughed then. “You’re not like Jacob.”

“Oh, thank God,” Bella let out a breath and wrinkled her nose, smelling the sharp tang of the antiseptic that Deaton used to clean his animal clinic. “Thank you, again, Carlisle.”

“The most important thing, Bella, is to enjoy your life and be happy. You truly are free and you can do whatever you want. No restrictions, no tricks, nothing.”

Bella nodded as she watched Carlisle leave. She familiarized herself with the smells of the clinic and the sounds that the animals were making in their pens. Bella knew that the shower wasn’t that way and she wasn’t going to make the animals freak out to a new wolf in their area.

She found her bag, it was resting next to the showers, and a note was attached to it.

I’m sorry. Or maybe not, really. I warned you, I can’t bear losing anyone else. You can take me down whenever you decide. Call me. – Isaac.

Oh, that was definitely going to be a problem and a half. With a sigh, she brought her bag into the bathroom, shedding the clothes she wore, inspecting her body – everything seemed intact. Bella unzipped her bag, and her own familiar scent wafted out, bringing a smile to her face.

Amidst her belongings, she uncovered Isaac’s scarf, its comforting scent wrapping around her. Bella was tempted to envelop herself in it, inhaling deeply.

That she was in trouble was an understatement.

She took a shower and washed off anything that wasn’t hers. She was certain that Carlisle had to touch her because of him taking care of her and likely manhandling her if she flew in fits of rage during her transition. She turned the shower onto extra hot and had it scald her skin.

Once she felt clean and had dried and washed herself, she felt like a whole new person as she stepped into her clean clothes. She took her phone out and sighed. A lot of missed calls and messages from her parents that she was going to have to deal with later, but for now, she had more immediate issues to deal with.

Just you and Scott. Bella texted Isaac as she looked in the fridge for something to eat. Seeing nothing, she sent Isaac another message to please bring food.

It didn’t take long for them to arrive with steaming hot Chinese food. Even from her perch on the examination table, Bella caught a whiff of the aromatic scent wafting through the room. She felt a pang of hunger gnawing at her insides and her mouth was watering at the thought of Chinese food. She was also aware that she was going to have to talk to Scott and Isaac. Thank them, re-introduce herself, see what she was going to do next, or whatever.

As the boys entered the room, they both looked surprised to see her up and about, alert and sane. There was a mix of emotions swirling within her—gratitude, uncertainty, and the need to address the situation at hand.

“Scott, Isaac,” she began, her voice steady but with a hint of vulnerability, “thank you for this and for helping me. I appreciate it more than I can express.” She met their eyes, a silent acknowledgment of the complexities that lingered between them. “I… I suppose we have a lot to talk about.”

“You’re not going to kill us?” Scott asked, a smile on his face as he set the bag of food next to her on the table. “Because we can explain.”

Bella smiled then. “No, I understand why, more than you think… I’m sorry that I was fighting so hard against it all, but I…”

“I get it,” Scott nodded. “It’s hard to believe in something when you don’t even believe in yourself or the situation you’re in. I’m just glad you’re back and you’re safe.”

“All thanks to you.”

Scott smiled and took a few steps back as he felt the tension in the room. “I’ll be in the hallway, so you two can talk.”

Bella watched Scott make a strategic retreat, leaving Isaac alone with her. “Hi…”

“You’re wearing my scarf,” he noted, a bit unsure about the situation at hand.

“Uh…” Bella felt her face flush red. “I uhh… yeah.”

Isaac noticed Bella’s blush as he pointed out the scarf, and her attempt at evasion only fueled his amusement. Her shy response drew a laugh from him.

“I can’t, nope, not telling you,” she said as she turned around to grab herself some food. “How have you been? Have you eaten yet?”

Isaac, refusing to let the subject change so easily, stepped closer. “Changing the subject.”

Bella sighed. “Yes.”

“It’s just you and me here,” Isaac stated, closing the distance. “I really want to hug you right now and feel that you’re okay for myself.”

“Please don’t,” Bella requested, a hint of vulnerability in her voice.

“Why?” Isaac probed gently.

“Because…” Bella hesitated, grappling with her emotions.

“Because… what?”

“Because… I don’t know if I can control myself, yet. I… Oh, this is embarrassing…”

Isaac’s playful demeanor persisted as he stood in front of her, his hands nonchalantly behind his back. Almost nose to nose with her, he couldn’t resist teasing. “I think it’s cute. Was it the scarf?”

Bella let out a soft whine that verged on a moan. “I wanted to roll into your scarf and make love to it,” she confessed, her words escaping before she could contain them. Her eyes widened, realizing the unexpected revelation. “Oh, I’m so sorry.”

Isaac blinked, caught off guard by Bella’s unexpected admission. A moment of silence hung in the air before he burst into laughter, genuinely amused by her candid revelation.

“You… what?” he chuckled, a lighthearted grin spreading across his face. “That’s a new one. I guess my scarf has some kind of magical allure.”

Bella rolled her eyes, blushing profusely. “I swear, I didn’t mean to say that out loud. It just slipped.”

Still chuckling, Isaac moved to continue to plate up some food for Bella. “Well, in that case, I should consider myself lucky to have such a desirable scarf.”

Bella groaned, burying her face in her hands. “I can’t believe I just said that.”

Isaac handed her the plate and some chopsticks, Bella was visibly relaxing, which was what he had intended. “Everything is more intense after turning. Seeing as you literally just woken up, it’ll be something you’ll get used to eventually.”

“I figured…”

“But I’m glad that I’m not the only one who caught feelings for someone,” he said as he popped a mini spring roll into his mouth as a lopsided grin appeared on his face.

Bella couldn’t help but smile back at Isaac’s playful expression. “Caught feelings, huh? Is that how you see it?”

Isaac shrugged nonchalantly. “Well, it’s better than ‘making love to a scarf,’ I suppose.”

Bella’s cheeks flushed again, and she playfully nudged him. “Okay, fair point. But in my defense, werewolf hormones are no joke.”

They continued their conversation, the playful banter lightening the mood. It seemed that despite the challenges Bella faced, she was finding a sense of camaraderie and understanding in Isaac’s company. And boy, did she want to fuck his brains out.

Over the following two weeks, in the buildup to the impending full moon, Bella underwent an intensive crash course on navigating her newfound life as a werewolf. The lessons covered a spectrum of skills—from mastering the art of transforming at will to understanding the extent of her enhanced abilities. Scott, Isaac, and Liam served as patient mentors, guiding her on maintaining emotional control and tuning out the overwhelming sensory experiences that accompanied her new senses.

Amidst the werewolf training, Bella made a solitary attempt to assess the damage to her academic year. Regrettably, she concluded that even with dedicated effort, graduation was an unattainable goal. Faced with this realization, she reluctantly abandoned the pursuit, accepting the inevitable shift in her priorities.

Which was alright, on top of being a newbie werewolf, she had a lot to make up for and made it her mission to make sure everyone was well-fed. Bella had learned that Carlisle had also transferred money into her account; an obscene amount of money that she kept to herself.

Carlisle had sent her a message after she had sent him some choice words about the money, and he had told her that it was only a fraction of the amount of money the Cullens had, and that she deserved it, that she could do good things with the money in ways that he couldn’t.

So, she donated to the veterinary clinic, anonymously, and also to the school to get them new gear for the lacrosse players as she was sure that Isaac and Scott would appreciate that gesture for future generations playing lacrosse.

They were in the old trainyard, where Isaac told her that this is where he learned to control himself during the full moon, and Bella was more than aware that tonight was a full moon. She had been feeling it all day, where she’d been unable to concentrate and wanted to punch some people in the face.

It was just her, Isaac, Scott and Liam in the trainyard, a cozy fire was burning and they were sharing a meal and they were doing a good job in keeping Bella distracted. She and Isaac still needed to have ‘the talk’, but seeing as learning how to be a werewolf was slightly more important than that so she wouldn’t tear someone’s head off, it could wait.

As the moon was almost at its peak, Isaac brought out a set of chains and motioned for Bella to come with him into one of the abandoned train cars. Bella followed him and crossed her arms over her chest. “My safeword is scarf.”

“Bella!” Isaac laughed, slightly mortified.

“You bring out the chains, this is your fault,” she countered as she sat down in one of the empty seats and heard Scott and Liam snicker outside the car.

“I’m going to secure you, just to be safe,” Isaac explained, his voice steady and reassuring as he wrapped the sturdy chains around Bella’s wrists and feet. “It’s your first time experiencing the full moon as a werewolf, and it can be intense. These chains will help prevent any accidents, keep you from hurting yourself or others, and give you a chance to find control.”

Bella nodded, glancing down at the chains with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension. “So, will these actually hold me if I lose control?”

Isaac nodded, his expression serious yet comforting. “They’re designed to slow you down and give me a chance to help you regain control. But don’t worry, I’ll be right here by your side the entire time.”

“They look remarkably breakable.”

Isaac secured her chains to the floor and the seat as he tried to find the right words. “That’s because… look, it’s just a mental barrier.”

“Like the one I already have inside my brain?”

Isaac wore a puzzled expression, momentarily lost in thought. “No, more like… when you’re tied up, there’s this mental barrier. Your instincts tell you not to break free because you believe you can’t. It’s strange, but it works somehow.”

Despite the palpable waves of anxiety emanating from Isaac — emotions apparently having discernible scents — Bella didn’t feel notably different. Well, internally, she sensed a surge of heightened irritability, but physically, she was fine. Shifting at will, a skill Isaac had imparted early in her werewolf education, had become a familiar and surprisingly comfortable experience. At least she wasn’t transforming into a massive pony, which, in her book, counted as a win.

“I feel fine, though,” she remarked, breaking the silence. “So, shall we switch gears and discuss scarves or something?”

Isaac couldn’t help but chuckle at Bella’s attempt to lighten the mood. “Sure, let’s dive into the fascinating world of scarves. Any particular reason you’re so intrigued by them?”

Bella shrugged, a playful glint in her eye. “Maybe I have a secret scarf collection. Or perhaps, I’m planning to revolutionize werewolf fashion. You never know.”

“I started that revolution,” Isaac nodded, really liking this playful side of hers. “Remember, that was my scarf.”

Bella shrugged again, slightly shifting in her seat a little to try to get more comfortable. “You know what I mean.”

“I do, but let’s not talk about that tonight.”

“I’m going to be bored. Did you bring me a book?”

“You’re not taking this seriously, you should be scared or anxious.”

“I am taking this seriously and I’m telling you that I’m fine,” she assured him. “Well, aside from the fact that I’m chained up like a puppy.”

“Ah, but you’re a cute puppy.”

“Bite me.”

~o.O.o~

Despite abandoning school after being absent for months, Bella found herself reluctantly trudging through the school building, her sleep-deprived state evident. The weariness in her eyes was hard to conceal as she joined the others outside during lunch.

“How do you do it?” she grumbled, directing her question at Isaac. “I just want to sleep.”

Isaac chuckled, understanding the struggle she was facing. “You’ve put a lot of energy into resisting the shift last night. It takes some getting used to.”

“It wasn’t that hard,” she muttered, cracking open a can of cola and taking a much-needed sip for a caffeine boost. The tired lines on her face spoke volumes about the internal battle she’d waged throughout the night.

Isaac observed her with a knowing look, realizing that the challenges of being a werewolf were taking a toll on her. “It gets easier with time. Your body and mind will adjust,” he assured her, offering a sympathetic smile.

Bella sighed, leaning against a nearby tree. “I hope so. I feel like a zombie.”

“You’ll get the hang of it,” Isaac reassured her, his tone gentle. “And speaking of getting the hang of things, we never finished our conversation about scarves.”

Bella rolled her eyes, a tired yet amused expression on her face. “Oh, right. The infamous scarf talk. You really want to discuss such a thing in school?”

“Probably after, yeah,” he laughed. “Might not be a good idea to discuss that here where everyone else can overhear the conversation.”

“People might think we’re weird,” Bella agreed.

As the lunch bell rang, signaling the end of their break, they headed back to their respective classes. The day trudged on, and by the time the final bell chimed, Isaac and Bella found themselves free to continue their conversation without the prying ears of fellow students.

Sure, there was another full moon night coming, but Bella believed she had proven that she could behave herself as she invited Isaac up to the room that she was still renting. Bella could have bought a house, and some more houses, if she’d wanted to, just for herself but she didn’t think she was going to stay in Beacon Hills.

Earlier, she didn’t want to stay because she was running.

Now, she felt she didn’t want to stay because the world was a big place and she wanted to experience it all. Maybe she was going to buy a campervan, one of those luxurious ones, and travel around America with it and any land connected to it before flying to Europe and do the same thing.

Bella casually poured drinks for them and tossed a bag of chips onto the bed, settling in for relaxation. “So, what are your plans post-graduation?”

Isaac mirrored her action, grabbing a chip before responding, “Well, what about you?”

Amused, Bella chuckled, “I’m asking you first!”

Shrugging nonchalantly, Isaac admitted, “Honestly, I hadn’t given it much thought before. I used to picture myself sticking around with Scott, being his right-hand guy forever. But now, with Liam in the picture, I’m rethinking things. Maybe I’ll explore culinary arts or try my hand at painting. I just want to be, you know?”

“And now?” Bella inquired, taking a sip of her drink.

Isaac met her gaze, a thoughtful expression on his face. “Now, I have you to consider.”

“What do you mean?”

Isaac took a moment, as if contemplating how to put his thoughts into words. “Well, uhh… those feelings I’ve caught, they’re pretty serious and I want to be there for you, support you in whatever you decide to do. I know you want to leave, which might be a bit more complicated now that you’re a werewolf, but I want to come with you and see if we can do something together, as us, not as you and me.”

Bella’s eyes widened, surprised by Isaac’s candid admission. The room seemed to fill with a mix of tension and anticipation as she processed his words. “Well, I caught feelings too and yes, I do want to leave and like… travel.”

“Scarf feelings?”

Bella laughed and nodded. She’d been using the scarf as some kind of metaphor that he’d picked up on. “Very much so, Isaac. I really like you and I’m still very sorry about…”

“Nope,” he shook his head. “Don’t even go there.”

“But what would happen if we’d leave? I was thinking of buying an RV.”

“We’d basically be Omegas. Packless. Weaker.”

Isaac’s straightforward response hung in the air, and Bella thought about the potential consequences of such a decision. The allure of freedom and exploration clashed with the reality of being without the support of a werewolf pack but seeing as Bella was a new werewolf, she didn’t really care. It would likely be different for Isaac. “And how would you feel about that?”

“Just fine, you know how I feel about Scott. He’s a good Alpha, but he’ll be just fine without me. Besides, we can always come back if he truly needs us,” Isaac replied with half a shrug. “Honestly, Bella, I like you better.”

A smile crept onto Bella’s face, a mix of gratitude and relief. “Good, because I kinda didn’t want to leave without you…”

Encouraged by the unspoken connection between them, Isaac closed the gap between them. Bella felt a flutter of anticipation as he gently cupped her face in his hands, leaning in for a kiss. As their lips touched, Bella could feel something ignite inside of her, something new. She felt all warm and tingly, something that she’d never experienced before and it felt so good.

She eagerly answered his kiss, and smiled into it. As they pulled away, a shared understanding lingered in their eyes. The decision to embrace a packless existence became less daunting with the reassurance of each other’s company. The kiss marked the beginning of everything for the both of them.

Isaac rested his forehead against Bella’s, their breaths mingling. “So, an RV, huh?”

Bella chuckled, a newfound lightness in her voice. “Yeah, I figured if we’re going on an adventure, we might as well make it a road trip.”

Isaac grinned, his eyes holding a spark of excitement. “I like the sound of that. Where do you want to go first?”

Bella’s gaze wandered, contemplating the vast possibilities. “Anywhere and everywhere. Let’s start with the open road and see where it takes us.”

“After graduation.”

“Yeah, obviously one of us will have to graduate.”

He chuckled and kissed her again before laughing. “Bella, you need to put your claws away before you take a chunk out of my leg.”

“Huh?” Bella looked at her hands that were resting on his leg and noticed that she had partially shifted. “Oh my God, I’m so sorry,” she said as she shook her hands, trying to get rid of her wolfy hands and nails.

Isaac couldn’t help but laugh at Bella’s unintentional shift. “Easy there, I don’t want you to poke my eyes out,” his amusement was evident in his eyes as he kept laughing.

Bella let out an embarrassed chuckle, her cheeks beet red. “I guess I still need to work on controlling that.”

“It’s all part of the learning process,” Isaac replied, giving her a reassuring smile. “The full moon makes everything different. You may be able to resist the extra emotions and murderous thoughts and prevent yourself from shifting, but it also enhances all positive feelings.”

“Such as?”

He nodded towards her hands that were now back to normal. “Arousal.”

“I’m not… I—”

“Relax, so am I,” Isaac admitted, this time it was his turn to have flushed red cheeks. “But baby steps.”

“Yes,” Bella agreed.

Isaac was quiet for a moment and then grinned. “Maybe until the Full Moon has passed. Just to make sure nobody is tearing anyone up.”

Bella giggled as she popped a chip into her mouth and happily wiggled on the bed. For the first time in a really long while, she felt complete. Happy. Content. The future was bright.

She wasn’t sure how Scott was going to react when she and Isaac would tell him that they were leaving, together, but he wouldn’t be able to stop them. Bella had no emotional attachment to Scott and she was fairly certain that Isaac had detached himself from Scott a long time ago.

To her utter surprise, Bella found herself graduating despite her grades lagging behind and a backlog of missed schoolwork. The school seemed to have bought into the story of her prolonged absence due to a supposed “serious health issue” and her subsequent stint at a health clinic following a near-death experience. The irony of the situation wasn’t lost on her as she walked across the stage to receive her diploma, a testament to the unpredictable twists of fate.

Her father would undoubtedly be beaming with pride if she had foreseen her graduation. Regrettably, the surprise didn’t allow for an invitation to her parents. Speaking of whom, she realized it had been ages since she last spoke to them, and the RV trip with Isaac would inevitably include a visit to her parents. The prospect of that reunion promised to be both interesting and challenging.

They partied all weekend with their own tight-knit little group, and by the end of it, Bella and Isaac had packed up her car to start their nomadic way of life. The world was open and wide, and while there were certainly dangers out there, she and Isaac were going to be alright together.

Scott was remarkably alright with them both leaving, but left the door open for their return at any point. It wasn’t as if they were going to be strangers, Isaac and Bella promised to keep in touch every once in a while.

As Bella and Isaac embarked on their journey, it felt like they had just started a new canvas and they were going to paint it with their adventures. No ties to anyone but themselves, and they could do whatever they wanted to do. It was also the time where Bella told Isaac about her new-found wealth and that they didn’t have anything to worry about while they figured out what to do in life.

Both agreed, however, that for now, traveling the world in an RV was the way forward. Visiting bright city lights or the serene countryside, they were going to be faced with new experiences, meet new people and more than likely learn a lot about life.

Life was good.
