Like last year, I decided to participate again in the snowflake challenge over on dreamwidth.
The Masterpost of the 2025 Snowflake Challenge for all participants are linked here.
My part one can be found here
Part two is here!

Challenge #9 – Create a fanwork
So it’s not completely new or anything, but I’ve posted chapter 2 of a fanfic I am working on.

Title: The Fox and the Swan
Fandoms: Twilight & The Originals
Pairing(s): Bella Swan/Kol Mikaelson
Genre: HET, romance, adventure, drama, angst, slow burn, supernatural
Summary: Bella inherits an old mansion in New Orleans and decides to uproot her life after realizing that Edward Cullen was not healthy for her and she wants to create as much distance between herself and the supernatural in Forks. With that inheritance, Bella also gets a scholarship and decides to pursue an education in history, focussing on folklore, myths and legends. Along the way, she meets a new friend, Kaleb, who one day starts to act very different…

Challenge #10 – Talk about one of your fandom firsts
Fandom firsts?? I don’t know, I’ve been writing stuff for so long now I keep forgetting them. UHHH, fandom firsts in the more internet-days is usually me doing a heck of a ton of research into said fandom before I even attempt writing it or understand it.
Ohhh… I know a better one; uhh 2011. I went to a Stargate-ish con and people next to me were talkinb about fics they’d read quite recently, which was an NCIS crossover with Stargate Atlantis where John Sheppard loses just about everything and gets paired with Ziva David. To which my newly-made friend turned to me and was like… “Didn’t you say you wrote crossovers like that? Do you know this story?”
“I likely wrote it with my friend Meeko, it’s called Broken Bird.”
Other person: “OMFG YES, I LOVE IT!”
That was a fandom first for me. It’s very very very strange to hear people talk about your stories IRL and I’m glad that I haven’t experienced it since because boyyyyy, keep my fics discussion online please LOL.
Challenge #11 – Share your love for a trope, cliché, kink, motif, or theme.
Thanks to the Stargate fandom I’m a whumper. I enjoy writing darkfic, angst, hurt/comfort, very dark stuff. Take a character apart and put it back together again. I swear, I’m not evil.
And I love writing crossovers and Alternate Universes 🙂
Challenge #12 – Create a Rec Countdown
Last year’s recs where I just talk about Meeko and Nakeisha, basically two of my constants in (fandom)life.
The youtube channels I recced last year still hold up too…
*reads description of the challenge*
Ugh. Look, I don’t participate in fandom that much, and the communities that I was active in aren’t active anymore. Reccing stuff is hard. Luckily, the options weren’t all fandom related… hmm…
I’m not going to recommend any songs that everyone should hear; I’m a big music nerd who has done radio shows (online and offline) for years as a presenter and I grew up on The Beatles, Duran Duran, Tears for Fears and a lot of other music. Although… this is just a really fun song everyone should hear: The Art of Noise with Max Headroom – Paranoimia why? This song and video clip are just an experience. What I found out later… Like… MUCH later when I started to watch EUREKA… Matt Frewer who plays Jim Taggart is Max Headroom.
Speaking of… 6 TV shows you should watch in no particular order (not stuff I write in, you OBVIOUSLY need to watch those shows too):
All these shows aired round the same time at the end of the first decade of the 2000s, have a great ensemble cast, great story telling and they’re so fun to rewatch again and again and again.
Oh, it also said not to forget to rec yourself. Well, all my stories are here. Pick your poison.
Challenge #13 – Interact with someone in fandom you haven’t talked with before.
Done that! Hi!
Challenge #14 – Create your own fandom challenge.
Who’s with me? Write 7k a month this year?? Yes? No? That’s my challenge this year LOL.
Challenge #15 – Talk about an unexpected joyous moment you experienced last year.
Let me start with this interaction I had with my mom last week when we were in my car for a day out and I was too lazy to swap the CD out that I was listening to (look, my car radio is ancient and I don’t want to replace it because it’s costing me enough money in repairs lately).
Mom: “What are we listening to? Did he just say motherfucker?’
Me: “You skipped fuck, shit and bitch, and likely a ton of other stuff.”
Mom: “This the band you went to? Can we listen to something else because it’s making me aggressive.”
Me: “‘Really? It makes me happy and go vroom.”
Back in November I went to a concert for the first time in 20+ years.
I usually went to concerts that were… for a lack of description… demure. None of that screaming and fainting stuff, no boybands, girlbands or anything that was popular, but to… a sibling-folkband trying to be a rock band and a popband at the same time and I went to like 15 of those concerts between 1997 and uhh 2003? I don’t know, I went to a lot of them.
Anyway, I stopped going to concerts because of the crowds, the sheer thought of being surrounded by so many people at the same time, the endless waiting in line, getting sunburned, not eating or travelling for a very long time just… especially the travelling. Back then it was usually done by public transport and it would take like 2 hours or 3 hours to get there and then leave early to catch the late train back and… yeah. I hate public transport. Our trains are disgusting.
Not to mention all the undiagnosed Autism funsies like severe anxiety that I had to try to ignore. That was fun and tiresome.
Anyway, a few years ago a friend of mine recommended a band to me, and I was like… but it’s not what I usually listen to, I’m not sure if I like it, etc etc, but he kept pushing me and I started to listen to a few of their songs and uhh… yeah. Well.
When I found out they were coming to the Netherlands, I was like, great! Tried to get tickets as they were supporting another band, but the show was cancelled. Why? Likely – MORE THAN LIKELY – the venue was too small. It only holds 3000 people, the tickets were sold out the minute they went online, too. I hadn’t been able to get a ticket anyway, and I am not particularly fond of that other band.
Then the band announced they were going to do a headline concert in the same venue, tickets went on sale and I got one! I opted for a VIP ticket so that I didn’t have to wait in line, didn’t have to get pushed – flashbacks from 20 years ago LOL – but it was all so calm and quiet and gosh, people were SO DAMN NICE.
While waiting in line, I got a good vibe off of someone and approached them – it was a guy too, and I wasn’t afraid! And I was like… my name is Buggy, can I ask you something? Explained my situation and the man didn’t mind being my ‘person’ for the evening, his son even looked out for me.
Meeting the band and getting my picture taken with them was a bonus, including telling them how much their music has helped me and my friend and a great test for my anxiety, which I managed to keep under control, too.
You know how great it was just to sing along so loudly on songs without being embarrased for it? Or worried that people would look at you weird for enjoying yourself?
SURE, by the end of it, I had to go to the side of the venue and find a wall to lean against because my back and hips were killing me, but I did it.
Having your driver’s license (I got mine in my late 30s, finally had the money!) is so worth it. I drove for 3 hours to the venue (big traffic jam) and it took me an hour and a half to get back home (empty roads!), went to the concert and mentally, I was fine. I was pumped and hyper and feeling better than ever. My body… took a few days to recover (yay fibromyalgia!) but damn. I did it.
And I might do it again!
SNOWFLAKE FRIENDING MEME
One last Snowflake Challenge post! It’s a friending meme!
Names I go by: Buggy, buggyfiction, toomuchfandom
Other Places I Can Be Found:
Livejournal: toomuchfandom
Twitter: buggywrites
Facebook: Buggy Mikaelson
Fanfiction.net: buggyfiction
Website: buggyfiction
Discord: I do have a discord account but have it turned off that anyone can friend me, if you want to be friends on discord, give me your username so I can friend you. I should really make a writing discord, I think. I have a streaming discord…
The fannish platform(s) I am most active on is/are: Usually my website and facebook but I’m trying to get more active on here 🙂
My main contribution(s) to fandom is/are: writing and blogging, sometimes graphics (mostly for my own stories).
Link(s) to my Masterlist(s): A good starting point is this post where there’s a post of all Year in Reviews since 2006 and basically covering everything I wrote fic wise since. For the most part. Because I was stupid and never copied/pasted the meme to dreamwidth since 2016 and the other website went kaboom.
Fandom(s) I enjoy: I like a lot of things… Let’s just go for the staples I am active in, have been active in and still write in… NCIS, Stargate Atlantis, Stargate SG-1, White Collar, Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Teen Wolf, Numb3rs, Arrow
My favorite people/characters in this/these fandom(s) are: Oh boy.
NCIS: Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Donald Mallard.
Stargate Atlantis: John Sheppard and Rodney McKay and Evan Lorne and David Parrish.
Stargate SG-1: Jack O’Neill and Daniel Jackson
White Collar: Neal Caffrey
Twilight: Uhh… Jasper? Peter? I think?
The Vampire Diaries: Kol Mikaelson and Klaus Mikaelson
The Originals: Kol Mikaelson and Klaus Mikaelson
Teen Wolf: Isaac Lahey
Numb3rs: Charlie Eppes
Arrow: Oliver Queen
Pairing(s)/grouping(s) I ship within this/these fandom(s) is/are: for NCIS it’s Gibbs/Ducky. Stargate Atlantis is Parrish/Lorne. White Collar it’s Neal/Peter and Numb3rs it’s Charlie/Colby. That’s what I wrote anyway. I’m actually more of a crossover writer, so I write a lot of Bella Swan/Kol Mikaelson or her with Klaus, or her with Isaac or her with Neal.
TV shows I enjoy seeing posts about but aren’t particularly fandom: Haven, Warehouse 13, Eureka, Leverage, The Sentinel, Mutant X, Hotel Babylon, Hustle, Doctor Who, Buffy, etc etc.
The type(s) of fanwork(s) I consume the most is/are: I’m really bad at consuming fanworks. It’s just stuff that I enjoy reading I guess.
Fanwork tropes/clichés I enjoy are: fluff, hurt/comfort, angst, AU, crossover, supernatural, neurodivergence, whump, character study… amongst other things…
Non-fandom things I enjoy: Uhm. I consume a lot of media and watch youtube videos. I also play video games that I enjoy, currently it’s Fivem roleplay and Two Point Hospital/Campus
I post/want to post mostly about: My goals for 2025 is become more active on the internet in general. I’ve been absent for 3-4 years due to my hyperfixation with FiveM roleplay and have barely written anything.
One thing I am good at: Being horrendously bad with keeping in touch with people, starting conversations and carrying them on.
Other things I want to share about myself: I’m in my 40s, medically retired due to Autism and anxiety, I’ve been writing fanfic since my teens (without knowing it was fanfic LOL).
