Chapter 06 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bella wasn\u2019t sure what quite happened when she regained consciousness, all she knew was that she wasn\u2019t in Mystic Falls anymore. It took her awhile to register it, but it looked like Charlie\u2019s home in Forks, but not. Something was off. Sitting up from her spot on the couch, she looked around to see what was different and she couldn\u2019t quite put her finger on it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAh! You\u2019re awake!\u201d Charlie\u2019s voice sounded from outside. \u201cCome join me on the beach!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beach? Yeah, that was new. Bella got up and when she stepped outside the backdoor, she could feel sand underneath her feet. \u201cDad? What\u2019s going on?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charlie smiled as he held out his hand to her as an invitation to join him watching the sea, basking in the sun. Not that Bella was complaining that for some reason Charlie\u2019s house had moved to a sunny destination, but it didn\u2019t make sense. She joined him, curiosity filling her mind. \u201cPsyche investigated your soul and you\u2019re a good egg, Bella,\u201d Charlie smiled at her. \u201cAnd you have no idea how glad I am to hear that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She narrowed her eyes on her father. \u201cYou\u2019re my father, you should know me by now, why would you have someone investigate my soul? What is that even?\u201d She then realized he was probably referring to a witch. \u201cAnd since when are you aware of the supernatural?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPsyche. The wife of Eros. Or Cupid, if you like to refer to him as that. The Goddess of the soul and love, come on, Bells, keep up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her jaw dropped at Charlie\u2019s tone, it was impatient and a little belittling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have to hand it to that vampire of yours; he was on the right track with calling you a Goddess adjacent and his whole idea about the Greek Gods,\u201d Charlie continued as he still gazed over the sea. \u201cYour refusal to believe any of it was quite\u2026 strange to say the least, but I suppose without evidence, it\u2019s hard to believe that any of it was real.\u201d He then motioned with his hands to their surroundings. \u201cConsider this your evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAm I in a coma? Dreaming?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNope. Would you like me to tell you who you are? What you are?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes, please.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVery well, but when you\u2019ve learned the truth, you\u2019ll have several decisions to make,\u201d Charlie said as he held up his hand and a glass of wine appeared. Handing the glass to her, he started to tell her story. \u201cI could start with the boring \u2018in the beginning\u2019 speech, but let\u2019s just say that we all owe our life to the Earth Mother Gaia. Eh, fuck it, she\u2019s my grandmother and Uranus, her son, is my grandfather.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s\u2026 fucked up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDon\u2019t you judge, you\u2019re dating a vampire,\u201d Charlie chided her, amused. \u201cMy father is Hyperion the Titan God of heavenly light. He married his sister Theia, Titaness of sorcery and the Goddess of sight. They had three children. Eos, Selene and myself, Helios or Sol, Titan god of the sun, a guardian of oaths, and the god of sight.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bella blinked at that. Was her father insane? On drugs? If it hadn\u2019t been for their strange familiar reality, she would have believed he was ripe for a nursing home. \u201cBut you\u2019re my father.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo, pumpkin. I\u2019m your grandfather. Just like the other Titans and Gods, I had many children and one of them was my daughter Circe. I either fathered her with Hecate or Perse, I can\u2019t remember and neither do they, so\u2026 hey, she\u2019s mine. That\u2019s all that counts. Now, you may be interested to know that your mother is the Goddess of sorcery and skilled in the magic of transmutation, illusion, and necromancy. Does that sound familiar to you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transmutation\u2026 well, she could turn people into animals and back. She hadn\u2019t had experienced the illusion part, and necromancy\u2026 well\u2026 she saw dead people and had just resurrected Kol. Of course it sounded familiar and Charlie – Helios – knew that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCirce is one of my problem children, I\u2019m ashamed to admit that we\u2019ve butted heads a lot of times and I even banished her to an island at some point. While she had a big heart, she had some darkness inside of her and used her powers more for bad than good. Now, I\u2019m the last person to say that the Greek Gods were saints. We\u2019re not. Hell, according to Christianity we were the biggest sinners ever to exist,\u201d Charlie let out a slight chuckle. \u201cCirce was well versed in her herbs and spells, you might even say that she originated witchcraft although most wiccans pray to Hecate. Circe poisoned her husband, a mortal king. Hmm\u2026 what else did she do? Oh yes, then there was her taking over the rule of her husband until she was finally deposed because of her cruelty towards her subjects. Then there\u2019s the famous story of the Odyssey, where she basically kidnapped Odysseus and turned his men into swine. She hated men the most, and after her banishment, she was allowed to have only women to tend to her and live with her.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRen\u00e9e is Circe?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOh no, Ren\u00e9e is a mortal witch. Well, technically she\u2019s a witch, just a bad one. I chose her to raise you because of her supernatural instincts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut I\u2019ve seen pictures of her being pregnant. She told me how I was born, that I was stubborn during my birth. I\u2019ve seen pictures of you and her while she was pregnant.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the power of magic or god powers,\u201d Charlie explained. \u201cRen\u00e9e truly believes that she carried you for nine months and that she and I produced you, but that\u2019s not right. I only came into her life after I chose her to raise you. I wanted to keep an eye on you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBecause I\u2019m Circe\u2019s child and Circe is insane.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charlie started to laugh. \u201cThat\u2019s one of the reasons. I was bored, I wanted to be human for a while, that\u2019s another reason. Also, after the Olympian Gods banished most of the Titans to Tartarus in the war, they made it impossible for the rest of us to ever interact with humanity again. Those not in Tartarus were made to stay here, in this special plane created just for us. It exists alongside normal reality, but it\u2019s not. Over the many years, some have found a way to escape and bothered the humans. A handful of us are now the guardians of those produced by indiscretions. We either destroy them, or take everything that makes them a God or Goddess away from them for them to live their life as a mortal, being none the wiser after a memory wipe. The time of us playing with humanity as if they were toys is over. Done. There\u2019s no room for us in the modern day and age and that\u2019s fine. We\u2019re still here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen what about me?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou\u2019re special, Bella. You have no need to interfere with the lives of the people on Earth and only wishes to do so on a last resort. You could have resurrected your vampire while he was still being spiteful and you didn\u2019t. You showed him that there is a light inside of him and that it was the better path. Mind you, he\u2019s still a vampire and he will still kill,\u201d Charlie replied reminded her. \u201cHowever, you\u2019ve shown Psyche, but also me in our interactions, that you\u2019re happy to live your own life and look at problems objectively. You like to analyze things and pull things apart to see how it works. That ability makes you the great writer that you are. Psyche also believes that you won\u2019t abuse your powers gifted by your mother and the rest of her bloodline, that it won\u2019t consume you as it would have consumed others. In other means; you are perfect, Bella.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bella huffed. \u201cHardly,\u201d she replied as she allowed the information to sink in. Kol had been right, she was related to the Ancient Gods. Hell, she was related to Titans! \u201cWait, who\u2019s my father? Is he a mortal?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe was,\u201d Charlie nodded. \u201cCirce made a deal with her cousins Dolos and Apate, both known for their trickery and deceit to get out of this place. We\u2019ve since then banished Dolos and Apate to Tartarus, but Circe found her way to the realm of the humans and before we could intervene, she slept with a man. Of course, she returned with child.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWho was he?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDo you really wish to know? It\u2019s not important. What is important is that you\u2019re half Goddess and half human, it makes you a demi-God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDad, please.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cZach Salvatore.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSalvatore?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA distant relative of your current vampire landlords, I believe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOh, fuck me,\u201d Bella muttered as she frustratingly ran a hand through her hair. \u201cSo Damon, Stefan and I are related?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVery distantly. Zach\u2019s ancestor was the half brother of your friends.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGross,\u201d Bella shuddered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen you wanted to emancipate from Ren\u00e9e and myself, I only allowed you to because Zach offered the guest house to you. Zach was a member of the town council and the supplier of vervain to them so I knew that I could trust him in keeping an eye out. He never knew who you truly were, but there\u2019s no doubt that he had his suspicions. His family has had to deal with strange things happening to them for centuries,\u201d Charlie then laughed. \u201cBut hey, don\u2019t let that little thing stop you, you\u2019re a Goddess. We don\u2019t blink if you have sex with a relative!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEw! No!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAlright, now, should you ever decide to get pregnant, you can. Now that you\u2019ve unlocked your true self, you\u2019re immortal but you haven\u2019t died and thus, everything still works. Should you bare children, they will be fully human. Again, they will grow old while you won\u2019t. I trust you in making the right decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKol\u2019s a dead immortal, I think I\u2019m good,\u201d Bella laughed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYour powers are still growing and I expect you to handle those with just as much grace and respect as you\u2019ve done with them so far, but you have to make a decision based on what I\u2019ve told you. We grew into a habit of destroying our indiscretions mainly because Psyche told us that they were wrong. She\u2019s a big fan of yours, as are many others of our group and you are granted a choice. Either be the demi-Goddess that you are, or be mortal without any powers. It\u2019s your choice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAre you going to leave now that I know who you truly are?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat depends on your choice, Bella,\u201d he replied kindly. \u201cI know that I\u2019m not your real father. I\u2019m your grandfather. But if it were up to me, you\u2019d choose to remain who you are.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLife\u2019s a journey, right? What if this is my path? I mean\u2026 I was born this way, why change it?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charlie nodded. \u201cAnother question; would you like to stay here or return to the human realm, rejoin your vampire?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLife. Not here. At least not now. I want to enjoy life. Explore. Love.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDon\u2019t tell Ren\u00e9e you\u2019re not her real daughter, it\u2019ll break her heart.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI won\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBe careful who you tell your secrets to. Not everyone needs to know that you are who you are because despite you being one of the most powerful people walking the earth, people will try to harm you or manipulate you into working for them and making you bad things. Trust your own judgement, Bella, like you always have,\u201d Charlie then got up with a groan. \u201cYou can find me where I\u2019ve always been, in Forks, but I\u2019m keeping my eye on you like I always have. I enjoy watching you love so much, it\u2019s refreshing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bella got up and hugged Charlie. \u201cYou\u2019re sending me back now?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNot just yet,\u201d he said as he handed her a note. \u201cTime works different here, you\u2019ve been gone for two weeks, but while you were waking up, I found this note in my mailbox. Seems like your vampire has connected the dots and found us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surprised, Bella opened the note. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Get out now, while you still can.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just kidding. Come out whenever you\u2019re ready and tell me I was right.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kol.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

She eyed Charlie curiously. \u201cWhere exactly are we?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re in Forks in the house you\u2019ve spent your summers in and looks like a normal house to mortals and those who are not worthy. Basically to everyone but us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHas there always been a beach?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYep.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd has it always been this light?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOf course. I\u2019m the ruler of the sun, I love my light.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She smirked then. \u201cCan Kol see this? It would totally blow his mind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charlie seemed to think about it for a moment and shook his head. \u201cNo, pumpkin, not quite yet. I\u2019d love to meet him some day, too, but not quite yet. Vampires are an abomination.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou\u2019re an abomination. You\u2019re the product of incest,\u201d she countered playfully and hugged him again. \u201cIf I walk out the front door, I leave this place and will be reunited with Kol?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe\u2019s still standing in front of the door. He must really love you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs he should,\u201d Bella giggled and walked back inside the house to get out of the front door. And Bella was surprised to see Kol standing there with a big bouquet of red roses. And he looked great. Sharply dressed and taken care of, not like how she had left him only a few hours prior. \u201cKol!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHappy Valentine\u2019s Day, Bella,\u201d Kol smiled widely. \u201cI knew I\u2019d find you here!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cValentine\u2019s?\u201d Bella said surprised before remembering what Charlie had told her; time had moved differently for them. \u201cI am so sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou\u2019re sorry? Bella, you brought me back to life. Why should you be sorry?\u201d He softly kissed her. \u201cI\u2019m just glad you\u2019re back. Did you get any answers?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYeah, but not here, okay? Let\u2019s go home and I will tell you everything.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDo we really have to return to Mystic Falls? Nik told me that perhaps it was best if everyone believed I died, including our siblings.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat about Silas?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYeah well, nothing I can do to stop him now, they raised him and Katherine ran off with the cure,\u201d Kol said bitterly. \u201cI swear, they\u2019re all like little children!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUhuh,\u201d Bella said amused as she looped her arm through Kol\u2019s and started to walk down the street. \u201cI suppose we could go somewhere else for a few weeks and celebrate your new life,\u201d she smelled the roses and sighed. \u201cMake our Valentine\u2019s Day a week long celebration in the nicest hotel we can find\u2026 just not here. Somewhere warm. Hawaii or Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd then you will tell me?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMaybe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOh, come on! Give me a hint, at least.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She thought for a while as they walked, breathing in the brisk air of Forks. \u201cYou really stayed out there for two weeks? In the freezing snow?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, a week and a half. I had to find your mother first and ask her where your dad lived and then I went. I caught your scent at the right house, so I stayed. Come on, tell me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou were partially right about something, that\u2019s your hint,\u201d she said as she hailed a taxi. \u201cNow, please let us go? I hate this town.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

~o.O.o~<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kol went overboard and booked them a hotel on Hamilton Island, Australia. It was quite a trip to get there, but once there, Bella wanted to make up for lost time, to thank him for being him and to apologize, for him having to stay outside the house in Forks for nearly two weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After finding a beautiful spot on the beach a few days later, Bella sighed happily. \u201cYep, this is the life. Such gorgeous views.\u201d She plopped herself down in the sand and looked at Kol. \u201cYou are just bursting to find out, huh?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPatience is not one of my virtues, you know that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, good news is that I\u2019m no longer a mortal. I\u2019m immortal, just like you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYay, you\u2019re more durable now,\u201d Kol smiled as he sat down next to her. \u201cWhat else?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think that there are nymphs in my family, but then again, so are vampires, apparently.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat?\u201d Kol blinked. \u201cDid you just say vampires? That doesn\u2019t make any sense! You can\u2019t have nymphs and vampires in your family, that\u2019s just\u2026 huh?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSure I can,\u201d Bella smiled at him. \u201cDistant human relatives of mine are vampires. It\u2019s not like my blood has vampires in it or something. That would be weird.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo you\u2019re half something\u2026\u201d Bella could see the cogs in his head go overdrive before it hit him. \u201cNo way, you\u2019re a demi-Goddess?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI owe you a huge apology, you were on the right track all along.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou\u2019re really a demi-Goddess? I mean\u2026 deep down, I thought it was far fetched but\u2026 seriously?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYep. Ancient Greek, too, so you were really on the right track there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kol just stared at her in awe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cStop it,\u201d Bella laughed and playfully pushed his face away. \u201cNothing\u2019s changed, we simply know what I am now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou\u2019re a demi-Goddess and you\u2019re hanging out with me, are you insane?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no one better than you,\u201d she said as she crawled into his lap and softly kissed him. \u201cI love you, Kol Mikaelson, get used to having me around and doing nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m not worthy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, you haven\u2019t spontaneously combusted while we had sex in the past few days so\u2026 yeah, you are worthy,\u201d she grinned and brushed his hair with her fingertips. \u201cI\u2019m yours. I\u2019m not going to leave you and when you leave me, then so be it, I\u2019ll have to live with that. But until then, you\u2019re stuck with me.\u201d Bella shifted a little in his lap and kissed him again. \u201cI love you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI love you too, Bella Swan,\u201d he replied and kissed her before breaking off the kiss as he had a wild thought running through his mind. \u201cWait. If you\u2019re half human, is Swan even your last name?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy mother is Circe. She had sex with a mortal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd his name was Swan?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo, it\u2019s likely a name Charlie chose for himself for some reason,\u201d she said thoughtful. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter, I like it. It\u2019s been my name ever since I can remember so it\u2019s fine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo that means that you have a biological human father, right? Then there are vampires in his family.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen it\u2019s likely that I know them! Would you like to meet your distant relatives?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOh, I already have,\u201d Bella said with a knowing smile on her face. \u201cAnd so have you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut you haven\u2019t been in contact with that many vampires\u2026 Just us and\u2026 oh please tell me that you\u2019re not a Salvatore!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m Bella Swan. I\u2019m me. Now shut up and kiss me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Bella managed to distract Kol for a few more weeks until Klaus sent him a distressing message that Silas was out and about in Mystic Falls and if Kol could pretty please return to help out because Klaus wasn\u2019t sure if he could stop Silas by himself. Myriam had gone to New Orleans to make their family home in order for their return so she was no help either. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kol had told Bella that Klaus wanted to go back to the city they helped built. New Orleans was a fascinating city with a large supernatural community, but also a sizable art community that Klaus loved so much. According to Kol, Klaus was tired of having to deal with teenagers and wanted to go back to his life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kol said that it was ironic that everyone was now fearing Silas, only after Kol made a lot of noise about him. \u201cAnd now he wants my help?\u201d were his exact words before begging Bella to go back to Mystic Falls for one last time so that Kol could help his brother. \u201cWhat\u2019s this thing you said about choosing your own path? They didn\u2019t believe me about Silas!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe\u2019s your brother.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think the entirety of Mystic Falls should deal with the fallout of Silas, we should not interfere,\u201d Kol sneered. \u201cIf it\u2019s truly going to be the end of the world, I\u2019d rather spend it with you before everything\u2019s over.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen let\u2019s not. Let\u2019s go to Klaus, say hi, stay a couple of days and leave.\u201d In all fairness, Bella wasn\u2019t afraid of Silas or what he could do; if he was something to be looked out for, Charlie – Helios – would have said something about it, wouldn\u2019t he?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It wasn\u2019t as if they had to travel for a long time to get to Mystic Falls. They were about 8 hours away from the town, as they had been visiting Atlanta, Georgia and were on their way to Salem, MA, simply because history was fun, but then again, Bella felt slightly apprehensive because of all the deaths. She had been seeing ghosts everywhere they went, some left her alone, some didn\u2019t. At least they were all kind spirits and not that aggressive, but no one knew what would happen in Salem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She really found it to be a downside of her being what she was; the fact that she could interact with lingering ghosts and help them move on, much like a medium would do. She made sure that she wouldn\u2019t resurrect anyone but help them find peace instead. But it was a pain. Kol was sweet about it, though. He understood that she still needed to learn to control her powers, and he didn\u2019t lose his temper or patience. He merely watched in fascination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bella slept through most of the journey as Kol drove, but the moment they set foot in Mystic Falls, Bella jolted awake in a panic. \u201cWhat the hell.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe\u2019d better clean up his mess, too,\u201d she muttered as she pulled her legs underneath her and looked out of the window. \u201cI don\u2019t see why everyone wants to steal his cure. It\u2019s his to use when the time is right, when the conditions are right. Boohoo, Elena is a vampire. Boohoo, Rebekah wants to be human again. Boohoo, Klaus wants to destroy it so nobody uses the cure against him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBoohoo Katherine uses it as leverage to stay alive,\u201d Kol laughed. \u201cBut that\u2019s what a powerful object does to people, Bella. I have to admit that I have done the same in the past; however, when something comes with a warning of death and destruction, you\u2019d think they\u2019d leave well enough alone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat would you do with the cure?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTruthfully?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut you don\u2019t have to be afraid of him anymore, so, try again. What would you do with the cure?\u201d Bella pointed out with a smile on her face as she saw familiar sights pass them on the way to the Mikaelson home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHand it back to Silas so he can bugger off.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cReally?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYeah,\u201d Kol smiled at her as he turned to get onto the driveway. \u201cDon\u2019t get me wrong, I loved being a witch and all, but I\u2019m pretty happy with my life right now, thanks to you!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She smiled at that as they got out of the car. Kol often went to feed whenever she was asleep, not needing as much sleep as she needed and all, but he made sure never to make a mess and not to take things too far. She was distracted for a moment when she saw a little boy shimmer near the door of the house, dressed in ancient clothes. The boy seemed to be as shocked as she felt and winked out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s wrong?\u201d Kol asked her, he\u2019d seen her million-miles-stare appear on occasion, it was usually when she saw a ghost or spirit that was wondering about. He had told her that while she had the power to resurrect didn\u2019t mean she had to help everyone who came knocking. Bella knew this. So far, Kol had been the only one she\u2019d resurrected and she admitted that she was afraid of that side of her; however, she couldn\u2019t yet turn off seeing shimmering people wherever they went. New Orleans was going to be interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just as Bella opened her mouth to give an answer, a large yelp came out of the house, followed by some growling. Kol used his vampire speed to get inside and Bella followed with a slight jog. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kol was there first, of course, but Bella was surprised to see him standing in the doorway to the room where his brother was in instead of running over to help him. \u201cDon\u2019t bother,\u201d Kol sighed as he watched as his brother yet again tried to break his own arm to get to something invisible on his back. \u201cI think Silas has his claws in him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klaus was seemingly fine, shirtless, but he seemed to be in perfect health, why was he tormenting himself and clawing at his back? \u201cSurely we can do something.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOr,\u201d Kol mused as he sat down against the wall. \u201cKeep an eye on him while he keeps tormenting himself. We might learn something new.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou are such a sadist!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI know,\u201d Kol replied with a grin. \u201cOh come on, Bella, allow me to have a little fun with my brother at least.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMyriam,\u201d Klaus let out a cry of pain before he sunk to the floor. \u201cSilas\u2026 he stabbed me in the back with the White Oak Stake!\u201d he cried out. \u201cI don\u2019t know! I wasn\u2019t in the position to ask!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bella huffed as she took a step towards Klaus but was pulled back by Kol. \u201cLet me go, I hate to see him in pain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOh, come on,\u201d Kol said with a giggle. \u201cThis is fun!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUnless it\u2019s happening to you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt happened to me, remember? I\u2019ve been poked by the real stake!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen you know we should help him,\u201d she tugged on her arm for Kol to let go of her and walked over to Klaus, grabbing him tightly by his arms. \u201cKlaus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBella\u2026 Myriam\u2026 Silas\u2026 I feel it get closer to my heart!\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It broke her heart so see the hybrid like this. Silas was likely teaching him a lesson. He was stronger than Klaus. \u201cIt\u2019s just me and Kol here. Myriam is in New Orleans, remember?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bella took hold of his face then, forcing the hybrid to look at her. \u201cHey, snap out of it. You\u2019re hurting yourself, there\u2019s no stake, there\u2019s no Myriam,\u201d she took her phone out of her pocket and dialled Myriam\u2019s number on speaker. \u201cListen for yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHey Bella, what\u2019s up?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKlaus thinks you\u2019re here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m in New Orleans, what kind of drugs is he on?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSilas,\u201d she looked at Klaus, her free hand still on him. \u201cI think he\u2019s snapping out of it now, thanks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDo I need to come back?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNah,\u201d Bella disconnected the call and looked at Klaus. \u201cYeah, you\u2019re back with us?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klaus grumbled as he looked at the mess he\u2019d made. \u201cWe\u2019re supposed to have strong minds, especially mine. Silas is quite powerful.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDon\u2019t make me say it, Nik,\u201d Kol rolled his eyes as he got to his feet. \u201cOh wait, I AM going to say it; I told you so and now you\u2019re scared and you want Silas to have the cure so he can die.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes! At least that will stop him from doing this again!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd bring back everyone you\u2019ve killed, all of your enemies and Finn in the process? Nik, please. We simply need to make him go back to sleep and make sure nobody will ever wake him again,\u201d Kol crossed his arms over his chest. \u201cAny idea who can do that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Bennett witch is powerful enough at the moment but she\u2019s highly unstable and under Silas\u2019 thumb,\u201d Klaus replied angrily. \u201cNo, best thing to do is get the cure, give it to Silas and let him die and join his beloved, perhaps Bonnie can lower the veil between the Other Side and here long enough for this to happen and our enemies to stay dead.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Other Side has to be destroyed for that to happen because his beloved isn\u2019t there!\u201d Kol shook his head and looked at Bella. \u201cYou see what I\u2019m working with, here?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe question you need to ask yourself is; wouldn\u2019t you do the same if you were in his position? Tear down the Earth just so you could be with the love of your life? Raise the dead so you can find her?\u201d Bella said with a slight shrug. \u201cDon\u2019t get me wrong, I don\u2019t agree with what he\u2019s doing to get what he wants, but he kinda has to because the children of Mystic Falls don\u2019t want to help a guy out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no one powerful enough to help him out,\u201d Klaus growled. \u201cExcept for Bonnie.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to seek him out. Maybe I can offer him a different solution,\u201d Bella said calmly and headed towards the door, only to be stopped by Kol. \u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAre you insane?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m not a witch, I\u2019m not a vampire, I\u2019m not an Original. It\u2019s likely that my family are the same people he used to pray to and make offerings to. I can do things that Bonnie can\u2019t. I\u2019m going to help this guy even though I shouldn\u2019t intervene. But dead is dead in most cases, he can\u2019t destroy the Other Side just to die and rejoin his beloved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBella!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure there\u2019s a peaceful way of resolving this. I\u2019ll be fine, Kol. You stay here and help Klaus clean up his blood from his dealings with Silas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to let you go out by yourself and meet him!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen come with me but you\u2019re not saying a word,\u201d Bella gently caressed his cheek. \u201cFanboy all you want. In silence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShouldn\u2019t you be like\u2026 not intervening?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m not. I\u2019m going to try to help out and make sure that there aren\u2019t more casualties,\u201d Bella smiled at him. \u201cThe sooner we get this resolved, the better for everyone to move on with their lives, right? Klaus can join Myriam in New Orleans and we can continue our trip through the States.\u201d She then took a deep breath. \u201cAnd I hope that the scoobies don\u2019t get into anymore trouble or at least use their heads. Hey, maybe we can do something about Elena, banish her or something so that she won\u2019t be at the centre of all this drama anymore!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUs immortals do have to have something to do for our entertainment,\u201d Kol huffed. \u201cStirring up trouble is always nice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou call Silas trouble? I call him something to be avoided. I\u2019m on your side here, Kol. I\u2019m going to seek him out and talk to him. Maybe he\u2019s reasonable. Maybe I can help,\u201d she said determined. \u201cNow, either come with me or stay here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She could understand Kol\u2019s reluctance of her seeking out Silas. After all, he and Klaus had more experience dealing with their enemies and such, but everything she\u2019d heard about Silas was that he was very powerful and wanted to be reunited with the love of his life. Wouldn\u2019t anyone use their power to get what they wanted, no matter what? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe there was a way that she could help Silas, if he wanted the help, and if not, she was going to think of something else to stop him from doing what he did. Likely transforming him into a statue of a pig or something. Binding him to the earth forever. She could do that now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leaving the house on her way to the clearing in the woods, she found the same boy standing there. \u201cWhat are you doing here, little one? Don\u2019t you have a better place to be?\u201d A child should not be alone, no matter if they were dead or alive, maybe she could help this little dude out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou can see me?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYep,\u201d Bella said as she motioned for the boy to follow her as she continued to walk. \u201cCome, I need to see someone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo,\u201d the boy replied. \u201cI need to stay here. There\u2019s an evil in the woods and I need to make sure my family is safe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYour family?\u201d Kol had told her that some ghosts could be confused, stuck in time in their death. It had sounded heartbreaking, and it was. \u201cI think they\u2019re long gone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo, they\u2019re not,\u201d the boy replied angrily before winking out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sighing, Bella continued her way to the clearing. She was going to have to talk to Kol about this boy sooner or later. She doubted that Klaus would like to hear that his house was haunted by a little boy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSilas! Can I please talk to you?\u201d She called out, willing her words to whisper through the trees until they reached their destination. Bella didn\u2019t have to wait long until Silas appeared, not even bothering hiding his true face. \u201cWhy am I not surprised?\u201d She sighed as she got to her feet and extended her hand to him. \u201cI\u2019m Bella Swan.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not afraid of me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo, I\u2019m not,\u201d Realising that he wasn\u2019t going to shake her hand, she pulled it back and stuffed it in her pocket. \u201cNor do I want to harm you. I\u2019m here to help.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t help me,\u201d Silas sneered. \u201cThese brats—\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI know that you want to be reunited with your one true love,\u201d Bella interrupted him calmly. \u201cI\u2019m curious, does she look like Elena?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe does. After Amara and I drank the elixir, Nature made sure that there were always mortal shadow selves of ours that would die.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKatherine\u2019s a vampire. Elena\u2019s a vampire. Good job,\u201d Bella gave Silas the two thumbs up, earning a smile from him. \u201cAnd you believe that Amara has truly moved on? That she\u2019s dead?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was told. I saw her heart and so much blood\u2026 I just want to be reunited with her, and to do that, the Other Side needs to be destroyed. I need the cure to become mortal again and then I can die.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bella nodded. She figured as much. \u201cI\u2019m more interested in making sure that my family lives in peace and that Mystic Falls is not going to be used as a battle zone. What if I could help you without the need for the cure and without the need to drop the veil to the Other Side?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat is impossible!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She smiled then. \u201cBy now, you\u2019ve probably figured out that I\u2019m not mortal and I\u2019m not supernatural. My mind is impenetrable for my own protection. I have connections you wouldn\u2019t believe. I can help you. Just leave the citizens of this Earth out of your crusade.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Silas raised an eyebrow, intrigued. \u201cWhat do you want in return?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI want you to remove the expression magic from Bonnie Bennett. It\u2019s eating her up from the inside, but I guess you already know that and once you\u2019re mortal, before you die, I want you to erase the Expression Triangle to make sure that nobody will ever use it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s it?\u201d Silas was surprised then, and Bella felt a sense of pride that she had managed to accomplish that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat is it, yes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhy not?\u201d Bella shrugged. \u201cTell you what, I\u2019m going to ask around to see if Amara\u2019s truly dead and we\u2019ll come back here tomorrow to discuss what\u2019s going to happen next. In the meantime, you leave everyone alone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boy scowled before he grabbed a stone and threw it at her, hitting her right on the arm. \u201cLeave my family alone! You\u2019re working with the great evil and that\u2019s not nice! You\u2019ll get my family killed, or worse!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bella rubbed her arm, narrowing her eyes on the boy. \u201cListen, buddy, your family is long gone. You don\u2019t have to protect them anymore. They\u2019re not here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLiar!\u201d The boy started to pelt her with pebbles and Bella quickly got to her feet and ran inside the house. As she closed the door, more pebbles could be heard hitting the door. \u201cFucker!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klaus and Kol skidded into the hallway, looking at Bella, confused. \u201cWhat\u2019s going on? Was Silas unagreeable?\u201d Klaus asked, a playful smile on his face. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was agreeable, but there\u2019s this ghostly kid who\u2019s a jerk and he\u2019s armed with fucking rocks,\u201d she said annoyed, showing the impact points on her arm. \u201cIt\u2019s like he\u2019s stuck in a loop or whatever. He knows he\u2019s been dead for like\u2026 centuries, but damn, he\u2019s a little shithead.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kol snorted. \u201cOne of the reasons Bella doesn\u2019t want kids.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bella narrowed her eyes on Kol. They had a conversation about children, a hypothetical one at that seeing as vampires were dead and their swimmers didn\u2019t work. Yes, there was a basic need in any being to procreate, to spawn mini me\u2019s of themselves, but she couldn\u2019t see herself having children. Ever – and she was fine with that. The world was too overpopulated anyway. \u201cKids are jerks. Let\u2019s adopt a dog,\u201d Bella scowled and paused for a moment before a devilish smile appeared on her face. \u201cOh, scratch that, we have Klaus!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s not funny,\u201d the hybrid growled lowly as he made his way back to the drawing room to clean up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think it is,\u201d Bella huffed as she looked at Kol. \u201cGhost kid. Talk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She told Kol everything she\u2019d observed about the boy as Kol lead her to the drawing room to get something to drink. Klaus had just tapped some fresh blood for them in a glass, and Kol was hungry. A shame that he couldn\u2019t sink his teeth into a ghost. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt sounds to me like it\u2019s residual energy. The boy is fiercely protective over his long gone family,\u201d Kol said when she was done talking. \u201cHowever, it\u2019s strange, because he seems to be fully aware of Silas and the fact you\u2019ve gone and talked to him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut it\u2019s not an intelligent haunt, either. I mean, he feels real. Like when Zach appeared to me. Or Lexi.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWere they truly haunting you, though? They were recent deaths. The way you describe the boy, sounds to me he\u2019s old. Very old. He might even be one of the first settlers here, like we used to be. It\u2019s likely he\u2019s been here a very long time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are we going to do now?\u201d she grinned as she looked at Klaus and Kol who were sitting in the sitting room, sipping a glass of blood. \u201cPlay scrabble? Strip poker? Drink ourselves out of a liver?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOh you do what you want, I\u2019m going to bed after the eventful day that I\u2019ve had,\u201d he said as he sipped his glass of blood. \u201cWhat did you and Silas talk about? Did you find him?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because two idiots took an immortality potion a long long time ago and Nature needed to find a balance and created shadow selves who WOULD die in place of the originators.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
